As I mention on the First Responders page, I have a strong personal and professional interest in working with people who are called to perform under intense physical and psychological pressure. That interest naturally drew me to the military and first responder communities—populations I’ve come to know deeply and care about greatly. To support this work, I’ve pursued specialized training in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of trauma, anxiety, and depression in military populations. Just as important, I bring lived experience that gives me a deeper appreciation for the unique challenges faced by those who serve.
Having lived the military life myself for many years, it feels only natural that my path led me to work with military members and their families. I understand the culture—not just from the outside, but from the inside. I know how tough it can be to navigate high operational tempos, deployments, relocations, and the emotional toll that comes with them. These aren’t just professional insights—they’re personal realities I’ve seen and lived. And I know how hard it can be to keep your footing and hold onto your sense of self in the midst of it all.
One of the most painful impacts of trauma, anxiety, or depression is how it can strain relationships. Whether it’s tension between partners, distance in friendships, or difficulty connecting with your children, these issues rarely stay contained. Sometimes parents notice their kids struggling too, mirroring the stress in their own ways. That’s why, when it’s helpful, I work with clients on practical strategies to rebuild connection, increase harmony at home, and nurture more loving, supportive relationships.
Clients often tell me that my style is direct, warm, and grounded. I offer a soft place to land—but I’m not afraid to challenge you, either. I believe in getting to the heart of the issue, helping people get unstuck, and supporting lasting change. This approach has been especially effective in working through trauma and mood challenges, and it’s one I bring to every session with compassion and respect.
